In assembly, all the teachers sang 'Walking in a Winter Wonderland' it was funny - especially the dancing!

Today we had a team meeting and won first prize at colouring in a funky Santa competition (I didn't even finish it and I still won first prize!) I did an acrostic poem about Christmas and we had maths too (I did some really, really, really easy questions about time). I also made a star with tissue paper inside so the light shines through it.

This morning I went on a trip - the trip was fun; it took about 10 minutes to get there - but it seemed about half an hour because it was such a boring journey there. The place was right next to a sewage farm - that's not very child friendly is it; at least that's what I was telling everyone. I made a Christmas cracker and something else while I was there.
When I got back I had to finish off a Christmas story and watched the Receptions Christmas play (it was so cute!)

Tuesday, December 07, 2010
Today in maths we turned decimals into fractions and then into decimals again and add them together and that. I even multiplied decimals. We watched the year 1's Christmas performance - it wasn't anything to do with Christmas; it was just loads of barn animals making noises! (not real barn animals of course!)
Monday, December 06, 2010
Right, what did I do today! Maths - in maths I don't know if I got any sums right; you couldn't tell! In literacy we didn't do any writing (Miss was just explaining things) and I did less reading than everyone else because my cough was interrupting me. I did some more work on my Happy Egyptian picture that I've been doing at play times now a days.
Wednesday, December 01, 2010
Today when we got to school it was snowing - when we arrived we went to class but Miss was told to go home because she lives a long way away. Then we had to go to Mr Collier's class, but not for long. We were all sent to the hall and the school sent a text message to all the moms and dads, so my whole school day was over in less than 1 hour!
Tuesday, November 30, 2010
It snowed yesterday and today! We had to start at 10am both yesterday and today too - and tomorrow! Yesterday we practised the performance again and that's just about it (apart from reading our reading books). Today we didn't practice the performance which was a relief! Today in maths we did equivalent fractions.

Today is my birthday! It was so cool! I got a bike and a pink wheely chair and some Bendaroos and a necklace and a top and some make-up. I only did one lesson today - literacy; and that only lasted 45 minutes - the rest of the time it was panto practice! I got happy birthday sang to me three times at school today; Once in class, once at lunch time and then during panto practice, one of the actors was late, so while we were waiting, one of the teachers saw my badge and said I should go up on stage and everyone on the whole school (except for me) sang happy birthday to me!

Monday, November 22, 2010
We did a writing assessment today; we had to write a persuasive letter to Lord Carnarvon asking for more money to fund our search for a new tomb. I used the persuasive argument that he could get even more money and if I didn't find a tomb he could have his money back (a money back guarantee! - I'm a bit like Tescos!)
We made a poster today about people who help us in school.

Today I finished off the test I started yesterday and I got every question right (18 out of 18 - and I did some working out so I might get even more). In assembly some people got the fantasy football awards - one of them might get a medal and a trophy.
I did a hierarchy of the Egyptian jobs today and I had to find out some things about their jobs on the internet.

Wednesday, November 10, 2010
Today I found out that the school disco was on my birthday (that's the 25th of November!) We had a fire alarm today - it started just as we started maths, so we just went into class and we had to go out again - it was only a practice though; we all managed to get out in 3 minutes and 4 seconds - that's almost a record.

Thursday, November 04, 2010
Today I made a sarcophagus and I drew a person on the top of it (an ancient Egyptian person of course). I only did two things today - the other thing was some information sheets on a goddess called Sekhmet and a goddess called Hathor (Horus's wife and the mother of all the gods depicted in the canopic jars).

Thursday, October 21, 2010
Today was parent's evening - and it was just the same as all my other parent's evenings - good, good, good. In history I finished my information book; I added a glossary, but I decided not to include an index as it would have been just the same as the contents.
In numeracy we measured things in the classroom.
Wednesday, October 20, 2010
Today in maths we did literacy! (All we had to do was write stuff down and draw pictures, but it was maths we had to write about - all about length, capacity and mass. In proper literacy (and not just maths literacy) I did the front cover of my book and some hieroglyphics in my book. I finished my book - it has five pages of information in it! We finished our RE topic about Sikhs today too.
Tuesday, October 19, 2010
Today we had ICT and ICT club. In ICT we emailed our partners clues to find some treasure; Summer and I both found our treasure. In literacy I did one things in my draft book and two things in my literacy book. In my topic book I did my post topic assessment - mom and dad will see that on parent's evening.

Wednesday, October 13, 2010
Today we did swimming - it was well cool! After swimming we had play time, but I don't have to talk about that; then we had literacy; we did some more work on our information book. Miss showed mine to the whole class because I had included highlighted subtitles.
In maths I went around the school to year 3/4 and asked the people at the school reception and Mrs Giles and Mrs Geldard - but Mrs Giles and Mrs Geldard were busy so I had to ask some other teachers instead; I was asking them all what their favourite exercise was which I was collecting in a tally chart which I used to produce a bar chart.
Tuesday, October 12, 2010
Hello,
Today in maths we did a mental maths test. I got 15 out of 20 so I did quite well. I also made a tally chart which I'm going to use in tomorrow work. Next we did literacy. In literacy we did some more note making on the Ancient Egyptians. We had computer club at lunch time and it was really fun. After lunch we got some pictures for my information book then I also did science. In science we had to do an experiment about dissolving and write a couple of sentences on it.

Friday, October 08, 2010
Thursday, October 07, 2010
Today in maths we did 3d shapes; cube, sphere and that. First we had to identify the 3d shape and then from one piece of information like the number of vertices we had to work out which 3d shape it was.
In literacy I started writing an ancient Egyptian information book - I'm going to explain how to make papyrus in my book.
Wednesday, October 06, 2010
Tuesday, October 05, 2010
Today we did ICT club - it was brilliant because we got to do whatever we wanted. Molly got an email from her mom in ICT club! In science we did an experiment and when we had finished we had to write it up (it was about dissolving solids). I finished my write up first; in fact I was the only one to finish so I got to go on the computer.
Thursday, September 30, 2010
Today we hardly did any work at all - I only wrote one thing today which was six sentences about the stages of mummification - apart from that no work at all. It was the harvest festival today; all of the parent's and all of the teacher's favourite song was 'The Harvest Samba'. I gave my donation too.

Tuesday, September 28, 2010
Today in maths we did word problems - I finished it all so I had to make up my own word problems. I had to do the middle and end and completely finish off my Egypt story today; I didn't manage to finish because my story is a bit complicated, so Miss said that I should work it out and finish it off tomorrow.
Summer bought another one of her crazy hats from Manchester and brought it into school today - she's got loads of crazy hats. And you know that really big maths test we did - I found out today there were 82 questions, but I'm still not sure how many I got right.
We had ICT and ICT club today - we did turtle graphics in ICT club.
Monday, September 27, 2010
Today I had PE - we did football dribbling; I got two team points in PE - one for getting ready first and one because our team won. One of Summer's teeth came out today - it was her silver crown; she'll get loads off the tooth fairy for that!
In maths I did times 6 sums and in literacy we wrote the first bit of our Egyptian adventure story.
Friday, September 24, 2010
Today I got my own homework that only me and Summer got - their are loads of hard words for us to learn. In maths I had to do more than 100 sums; we did one test and then Mr Collier said we should do another test! I think I got them all right. Mr Collier didn't even know how many sums there were there were so many!

Tuesday, September 21, 2010
Today I wrote about yesterday's Egypt trip, and then I wrote about it all over again! The first time was in my draft book and the second time on a piece of paper to go on the wall (but I didn't finish it, so I'll have to finish it tomorrow). I went on the computers 3 times today, once in maths, once in ICT and once in the new ICT club where I sent an email to my friends.
Monday, September 20, 2010
Today I went on a school trip - it was awesome! We went to Bagshaw museum because we are learning about Egypt and they've got loads of Egyptian stuff there. The first thing we did was hear about all the rules (which was a bit boring), and then we actually did something. The first thing I did was an archaeologist thing where we had to find stuff in sand and look up what we found on a sheet and look up who would have owned the object and where they would have lived.
Before lunch we did one more activity - it was like a treasure hunt, but with no treasure. We had to try and find items on a worksheet - we didn't get any prizes for that unfortunately. We had lunch and played out a bit and then we got back together and they gave us real objects that the ancient Egyptians had so that we could hold them - the one I had was like a jackal head and we saw some finger prints in it and even a nail mark made by the person who made it!
Friday, September 17, 2010
Today we had a meeting with Mrs Giles - I thought it was going to be about the playground and I was right. Mrs Giles was asking us how we could improve the playground - there were about 7 of us there to discuss it with her.
We didn't have maths today - instead I did a poster about what is good about being in Miss Brazel's class and I put a picture of Miss Brazel on the poster because she is the best thing about being in Miss Brazel's class.
Thursday, September 16, 2010
Wednesday, September 15, 2010
Swimming today - it was pretty good because I got to do the crawl with one arm (and one arm on a float). At least we didn't have to sit on the side for the lesson like last week! And we got to go on a double decker bus on the way back to school - I sat on the top deck at the front with Nicole.
I did a setting of ancient Egypt today in theme work - it was based on a story that we read. In maths we did this really hard thing - they gave us the answer to two sums and they gave us four numbers and we had to work out what the sums were, but the hard bit was the last one which didn't have any numbers but it had shapes instead and each shape represented a different number and some of the shapes didn't even have a number that represented them - it was really hard.
Tuesday, September 14, 2010
We were supposed to email each other today, but my partner who I was supposed to be emailing didn't have a working password. In fact loads of people's passwords didn't work - it was a disaster! (Mine worked though). In literacy we had to describe a setting - I did a deserted island; mine was so good that she read it out to the whole class (I got a team point for it too). I've almost filled up the chart with team points already and it's only the second week.
In maths we had to add pounds and pence sterling using a calculator which was a bit hard.
Monday, September 13, 2010
Today I gave in my homework. We had PE - it was all right, but we didn't get to do all the things we wanted to do because people were being silly. I was the first to get ready and the first to get changed back into my school uniform - I got 2 team points for that. I also got a team point for running about and an other team point in maths (4 team points in one day!)
I wrote a description about a farm house today too (but that was a bit boring). Dad bought a new Mini today - it will be delivered on Wednesday.
Friday, September 10, 2010
Today we did stuff - blah, blah, blah!
We got our homework books today - I've got some maths and some literacy homework to do this weekend. And I was in the special book today (this first special book of the year!) I got in the special book because I've just got into my work straight away after coming back from the summer holidays.
Thursday, September 09, 2010
Peek-a-boo; it's me again! You probably guessed that. Today I did maths - it was very complicated; we had to do the fat belly awards; if you said 'here's one number and here's another and you use the <> sign between them' Mr Collier calls them the fat belly awards.
I was a detective today too - I worked out who an object belonged to by what the objects were.
Wednesday, September 08, 2010
Today I went swimming - I was really excited, but when we got there, we only got to swim for about 30 seconds; all of us that could swim already just sat on the side and the ones who couldn't swim jumped about in the water.
We did ICT today - writing up the characters from yesterday. We did multiplication in maths (multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000) and we had French today too - we played a memory game in French where we had to find the word 'carpet' in a French nursery rhyme.
Tuesday, September 07, 2010
Today we had a pre-topic assessment about our science topic 'solids and liquids'. I knew a solid that is a solid and a liquid at the same time; cornflour and water is solid when you squeeze it, but if you stir it gently it is a liquid.
In literacy we described two characters called Nouforis and Pere - they were ancient Egyptian characters in Horrible Histories. Pere was one years old and a bit stupid because Nouforis was throwing a stone in the river and Pere tried to copy her but forgot to let go and threw himself in the river!
Tomorrow we are going swimming which is going to be so cool.
Monday, September 06, 2010
Friday, September 03, 2010
Today I made a friendship card - what we had to do was make a card that other people can sign to write down why you are a good friend to them. Yesterday Miss took a picture of each of us and this picture was put on the front of the card and under the picture we wrote our name and around the edge we drew a boarder.
In maths we had these rivers with the length in km written in words and the length in miles written in numbers and we had to write the words into numbers and the numbers into words - there were eleven rivers that we had to do!
Thursday, September 02, 2010
My 700th blog post! This calls for a celebration! And it was my first day back at school today. I'm in Miss Brazel's class and Mr Collier's class for maths (Miss Atkinson is now Mrs Collier because they got married during the holidays!). Today was all about introducing us to year 4 - we've got a new card for dinners now and everything (it's now a colour coded system).
I got a new reading book (level 10) and a new maths book. We've got a new draft book too (most people don't know about it - only the teachers and children; we use it to write up our draft work before we re-write it into our literacy book.
I saw Summer and Molly and Daniel and Suzan and all my other friends today they all had brilliant holidays.
Friday, July 23, 2010
Today was the very last day of this term and this year. After the summer holidays I'll be in year 4. On my first day of next term I'm going to include a picture of myself so you can see me in reception and when I'm in year 4.
Today was toy day which was quite exciting, and it was Molly's party which was even more exciting! This morning I forgot my lunch box and dad had to bring it in to school - then we had an assembly and we were told that Mr Collier and Miss Atkinson are going to get married during the holidays! So when we get back, we will have a Mrs Collier! Congratulations to the happy couple!
After assembly it was play time; me, Suzan, Molly and Summer decided to stay together because there was a film on after play time in every classroom and it was up to us which film we watched - we all watched Labyrinth which was scary, but there was something even scary that we did today which I'll talk about at the end of the blog.
After all of that we had another assembly to say goodbye to all the year 6's - some of them cried. Then it was home time, but I didn't go to Koosh tonight, or go home with mom or dad; I went to Molly's house - so did Suzan and Summer (Molly came obviously). It was Molly's birthday party.
We walked to Molly's house and Molly opened her presents and then we went to get changed - after that we did a dance routine which we've been learning over the past few days. And then Molly's dad came home so we had to do the dance routine all over again. After that we went to Xscape because Molly's party was there - we did an aerial assault course; it was very scary because it was so high up! The first bit they just pushed you off the edge! We were holding on for dear life! Then we had to wait for Summer because she is so scared of heights.
After the assault course, we had something to eat at Frankie and Benny's - I had a huge pizza with ham, mushroom and salami.
Thursday, July 22, 2010
Today is the last proper work day, so we got some chocolates in maths! We did our class assembly today too which went very well; it was called 'Ending for New Beginnings'. Tomorrow, me, Suzan and Summer and going to Molly's party - it's going to be brilliant!
We got our French books today - mine was very good; I learned lots of French this year; I learned about Paris too which I also put in my book.
Wednesday, July 21, 2010
Today we did fractions in maths - I was brilliant at them; I finished them all and got them all right! I played with Molly, Summer and Daniel today. It was the year 6's leaving assembly today - it was very funny.
We putting together a French book with all the French we have learned this year. We did some more on it today and we're going to take it home at the end of this week to show our moms and dads - we're going to learn more French next year. It's our class assembly tomorrow (but it's only in front of year 3 and year 4). I'll tell you how it goes tomorrow.
Tuesday, July 20, 2010
Today we did lots of stuff! We wrote letters to each other - I wrote my letters to Molly, it was really fun because we had to post them to each other. I posted both of my letters, but I made a mistake on one so I had to start again. We did ICT today, we played because we've lost all of our programmes except Dazzle which is like art on the computer.
Monday, July 19, 2010
Because Summer is on holiday at the moment, Jake and me are saying that all of her work is imaginary Summer. She's back tomorrow though.
This is may last week before the summer holidays, but we did proper work today (although we didn't have to write in our books in maths). In maths we did problems using the times tables to see which two numbers add up to a third number - they were quite fun because it was like a challenge.
I had a catastrophe whilst writing a letter - a marker pen went through one of the pages I had written so I had to write it all again!
Friday, July 16, 2010
Today mom and dad came to assembly because I was performing a routine with Molly. It was really good (well, that's what mom and dad said). Molly's mom wrote a note and left it in Molly's sandwich box about how good the performance was. We did a tipple over , then a stretch jump, then another tipple over and then a scrabble.
In maths we kept on the outfits we were wearing for the performance - pink tops and leggings. In maths we did taking away sums but in a very strange way.
Thursday, July 15, 2010
Tomorrow is a more exciting day than today, but I better tell you about today! Today in maths I did partitioning (not petitioning) and in creative curriculum we had to write about the things we have learned this year - and I wrote more than anyone; nearly one and a half topic pages - and those topic pages are really big.
Wednesday, July 14, 2010
Today we did proper work instead of just colouring in and stuff. We did maths; in maths we had to do thousands, hundreds, tens and units and it would give us a big number which we do stuff to - it was a bit complicated, but easy (I got 24 out of 24).
I did a letter to Nanny in literacy (but I can't send it because its in my book) - and I showed miss my blog today and she was very proud of me.
Tuesday, July 13, 2010
Today was sports day - it was brilliant. I come first in the hurdles, first in the running and third in the relay (although we were in the lead after my leg). Dad came fifth in the dad's race. I'm in green team and we came third overall. There was a toddlers race too for the children's baby brothers and sisters - they were really cute.
We did ICT today - some programmes were missing from the computers so instead of our planned lesson we had to answer some boring questions.
Monday, July 12, 2010
I know this is Nadia's school days, but I saw something amazing this weekend - an upside down rainbow!
It's called a circumzenithal arc and it is quite rare. I told them all about it at school today I even found a picture of one on the internet for everyone to see.
As well as circumzenithal arcs, we had maths (word problems again) and science - we learned about food chains. Tomorrow is sports day so I'm going to have a long long blog.
Friday, July 09, 2010
I'm doing two blogs today because I forgot yesterday. So, yesterday in maths we did word problems (again) and I've forgotten what we did in literacy. Today was a special day because some people went to Armley sports centre to do performances - I didn't go, but Molly did (I'm going to Molly's party soon - I'm really looking forward to that).
Wednesday, July 07, 2010
Tuesday, July 06, 2010
Two blogs today because I didn't do one yesterday (I was too busy doing my homework). Yesterday - well, I've forgotten what I did yesterday, so back to today. Oh, I remember - I did a fact file about myself and in science we did keys (not the keys you put in the door, but the keys which show what the symbols in a diagram mean).
Today we found out our new teacher for next year - its going to be Mrs Brassel. First of all today, some people went to the computer suite to print the poems we did yesterday - oh, that's another thing we did yesterday! Mrs Hutchins went to print stuff, so it took us ages to print anything because we had to wait until all her printing was finished, and then, when we printed ours, I got eight copies and everyone else got six! And then loads of blank paper came out of the printer.

Wednesday, June 30, 2010
Two blogs today because dad didn't get back until late yesterday.
Yesterday it was Spirit Alive - it was okay but it wasn't as good as last year because we didn't do bowling in the corridor, we did it outside instead. I was in the Spain team and we came ninth (which was rubbish); one of the reasons is that when our team played football one of the boys scored an own goal - he celebrated before finding out that wasn't the way to play - and then he did it again (and celebrated again).
Today I did ICT; we did a fact file about Roald Dahl. In maths I did unit B and C and then nearly managed to finish my target (adding up two double digit numbers in my head), but I got the last one wrong.
Monday, June 28, 2010
Friday, June 25, 2010
Thursday, June 24, 2010
Disco and rounders! They were brilliant; they were both after school though - so it isn't 'Nadia's school days' - it's 'Nadia's after school days'! It was my first day at rounders club - I liked batting best because I got more rounders than the others - and we won loads of team points! And the disco was really good - we danced and danced!
Wednesday, June 23, 2010
Today I did PE which was really fun - we were practising for sports day. We did javelin (with space rockets) and dribbling with the ball. I went on the computer where I had to start something all over again - not because I was naughty (don't worry about that), but because it all went completely wrong.
Tuesday, June 22, 2010
Today was brilliant - actually brilliant! Maths was easy and Miss said it was one of the hardest pieces of work we have ever done! It was fractions but really easy. I had to copy a news paper article as well (I had to copy it because I didn't have time to write my own because I was with the artist yesterday when the rest of the class was busy writing their news articles.
We also did the news article again, but typed it to make it look like a proper news article - Mr Collier put the title "The Daily Mail" in posh writing and set up the columns.
Monday, June 21, 2010
Today was the last day that the artist was going to be with us (boo-hoo). Because it was the last day, the artist gave all ten of us a present - watercolour pencils that you can use to write on yourself. It was brilliant; first we did some painting and then, after lunch, we did a presentation to the whole of key stage 2 to explain what we had been going over the four days.
Friday, June 18, 2010
Thursday, June 17, 2010
Yesterday I forgot to do my blog so I'm doing it today. Yesterday I did the art thing and I had to tell the little ones what to do. The artist is Steve Tomlinson (click on his name to see some of his work).
One of Leeds Rhino's rugby team came today - Ronny the Rhino came too.
Tuesday, June 15, 2010
Today was brilliant because we had a world cup football match!!!!!! First we all went to the field. Even the Key Stage 1's were on the field. We had to dress up red and yellow clothes because each of the classes in the school had to come in the colours of a countries flag, and our country was Spain.
After school we had a disco - it was good.
Monday, June 14, 2010
Guess what I did today? I went to a school called Ebor Gardens! It was brilliant. First we got on the coach and it took about half an hour to get there. When we got there we sat down in the hall and Mr Lee ( the year two teacher ) told us what we were doing that morning. The first activity was a necklace made out of paper tubes. It was very fiddly but in the end I managed to make it. After that I did some Indian dancing and that was quite hard as well. There isn't much to talk about with that so I'll move onto the next thing that we did. The next thing that we did was design a henna pattern which was quite hard as well. Mine had flowers and swirls on it and that was really my day.
Thursday, June 10, 2010
Half of today I did art, and the other half I thought of newspaper headlines; we had to read some stories and then think of a good headline. We did maths too; we did times and dividing - it wasn't that easy because I had to do a sum with ten numbers in it.
In art I finished off the dress design for the girl in Klimpt's The Kiss and then I started work on Klimpt's Tree of Life which I managed to finish. Miss kept on saying how good mine was.
Wednesday, June 09, 2010
An artist came to visit the school today. His name was Steve Tomlinson and he is going to do some art near our school. Only a few of us were chosen to go and work with him and I was one of them. We went outside with him to the community centre and went back in and we had to cut out some paper in the shapes of things we had seen at the community centre - I did a spiral and two windows (the spiral is a design on the community centre gate). We are going to see him on Monday too.
Tuesday, June 08, 2010
Monday, June 07, 2010
First day back at school today; we didn't do any writing, but we did learn about Gustav Klimt (who painted 'The Kiss') - us girls had to do the circle designs on the ladies dress and the boys had to do the straight line patterns that are on the man's clothes.
In maths we did remainders (the were hard). And we started a new topic; news papers.

Tuesday, May 25, 2010
In PE I banged my head and I got a bump on it and they didn't even give me a bumped head note - this is war! Chester and Jordan had a war today - they don't get on at all. Jordan kept on tripping Chester over (at least it was on the grass), and then the two of them had mini war.#
We found out that one of our teachers (Mr Bradley) has got a world cup song for the England team - this is the video for it:
Monday, May 24, 2010
It's maths week this week, but we aren't doing hard maths, just games and fun things. In the other maths class today they didn't do anything to do with maths - they just coloured in butterflies! We did a hard maths game, but I worked it out - I think I've got it right; if I have got it right, I'll get a team point tomorrow.
In literacy I was supposed to start a Haiku, but I hadn't finished my play script so I finished that off instead.

Today Summer and I made a poster but no one else in year 3 did. The poster was about walking to school; we decided to do it, but no one else could decide. We did it because Summer banged her head and had to stay in at play time and she asked me to stay in with her.
I finished my story about Beowulf and Grendel which was very good.
Wednesday, May 19, 2010
Today we went to Farnley Park High School - it was a mini school trip for the year 3s. First we had our lunch (me and Summer finished quite quickly) then we got changed into our sports things and went outside to play. Mr Collier said he would call us in at 1:30pm to get on the coach and he did. We did all types of sports at the High School and two other primary schools were there. We did a running race (I won), a skipping race (I won), hurdles (I won), football penalty kick (I hated that) and standing on one leg (I won) - I was just standing there on one leg talking to Mr Collier while everyone else was wobbling and falling over.

Today I made my house - but it was a complete disaster. When I got in this morning, all the paint had pealed off. Then I had to stay in at playtime and re-paint it (I added PVA glue to the paint this time). After that we didn't have enough time to finish it so we had to finish it without the windows which was one of the main things on the eco-house because they had double glazing.
I brought two things today; I brought in a badge and a certificate for my ballet exam; in assembly, I had to go to the front and everyone clapped for me.

Wednesday, May 12, 2010
Today we had a mental maths tests as well as my SATS. We also had a spelling test (I got 14 out of 20). After lunch all our SATS were over (year 6's have still got their maths and science though).
We had PE today - we were playing tennis. When we had finished PE, we all had to get changed back into out school clothes, and I was first, but when Morgan came out, she just picked me up and put me behind her so it looked as though I was second!
Tuesday, May 11, 2010
We had a writing assessment today - I wrote about going on a treasure island and finding some treasure. We had a maths lesson too - well, it was sort of a maths lesson; we just went over the things we didn't do well in on the practice test - we didn't get the practice tests back though so I don't know how I did.
We had ICT too - we did a bar chart showing favourite ice cream flavours (the favourite flavour in the class was mint - 11 of us). My favourite was 'other' (no one else had even heard of bubble gum flavoured ice cream!)
Monday, May 10, 2010
Today we did some practice optional SATS tests. We had two tests; both were reading tests. For one we read a fiction book about some people going on a treasure hunt, and the other was a non-fiction book and it was about how to make a treasure map and at the end an actual pirate was going to judge it!
We worked out how to do our science experiment today; we have to splash a drop of water onto four different types of paper; news paper, tissue paper, a tissue and writing paper. This will show us which is the most absorbent. We went on the computers after, but my computer didn't work, but my computer didn't have files, but we've got a new system, so we thought it would work. We have to select our names before we log on now, but my name wasn't there because it was only listing the year 6 children.
Friday, May 07, 2010
Today I brought in a plastic bowl that I wanted to use to make my eco-friendly house. I told Miss that I was going to paint it green so it looked as though it was covered in turf and she thought it was a brilliant idea.
In art I wrote a full page (and a bit) about how to build my eco-friendly house - I'll make a start on it next Thursday.

Tuesday, May 04, 2010
I had PE today - in PE Summer said I was annoying because I kept on throwing the ball around; we were playing tennis - I quite like tennis, but I'm not very good at it.
I did my practice SATS in literacy today so we had to miss maths (unfortunately). We had to read a fiction book before play and a none fiction book after play - I liked the fiction book more even though the none fiction book was shorter.

Wednesday, April 28, 2010
I did a writing assessment today - I have to copy it into my big writing book tomorrow. It was a letter to the mayor about Zillia's valley (do you remember Zillia from last nights blog?)
Maths today too; adding up and taking away - I didn't like it much. It was about number sequences and that sort of thing.
Tuesday, April 27, 2010
Nadia did a picture - I finished off my poster and Miss said it was the best in the class; it was the only hand drawn and written one!
Nadia did a mental maths test - I got my best score yet; 17 out of 20!
Nadia did a diary entry - I enjoyed that; I wrote about being a little girl called Zillia and that bad things were happening in her valley. She had a plan about how to stop all the wildlife from dying.
Nadia missed computer suit time - because I had nothing to do on the computers (because I hand wrote my poster.
Nadia didn't do PE - because my arm still hurt from falling off my bike yesterday.
Monday, April 26, 2010
I hurt my arm today, but that wasn't in school - I fell of my bike trying to avoid a nasty smell!
Today at school we went on the computer during science; we had to think of an object, for example a window, and then we had to say what different materials are used to make it. I did mine perfectly, but I was a bit naughty - talking a lot, but I didn't get told off.
Friday, April 23, 2010
Today we made a new logo for the school - it wasn't a real one, but just what we thought it should look like. Mine was a shield with four sections, on one section it had computers for ICT, in another a book for literacy, the third had some maths symbols for maths and the last had a pallet and paint brush for art. Miss said we should show it to Mrs Giles!
Thursday, April 22, 2010
Today I woke up early again so that I could get to school early so that I could hand out the coloured bands - it was fun.
We had maths today - I didn't like it much; we were doing remainders - I don't like remainders! I also started a poster about how eco-friendly the school is. We went outside to see all the environmentally friendly things outside, and before we went, I said to Miss 'what about the school allotment' - she hadn't thought of that one!
Wednesday, April 21, 2010
Being band monitor was fun! I had to get up really early - I made my own sandwiches (with dad) and went to school extra early. I took the register to the office as well today - I went with Josh and Joseph. We had maths today - we did word problems, but we didn't actually do them though because we had done some of the work before. When we found that out we did more word problems on the computer.
I did music today too - we didn't actually do music, we just listened to some! One of the pieces was called The Bellybong and the other one we listened to was called The Firebird.
Tuesday, April 20, 2010
Today I was chosen to be the band monitor! I've even got my name on a special sign behind Miss's chair! It says that I am the band monitor. The band monitor is the person who gives out the coloured wrist bands which let the dinner ladies know what you've chosen to have for your lunch. It is a very important job - it's the job that everyone wants to do! You have to take the band box up to the office to re-fill it every morning and then take the box back to Miss.
After ICT today (which was a bit boring) it was PE, but I didn't do PE - Summer and I were chosen to do some gardening. First we cleared up the weeds (that's the worst job for a gardener), then we planted some cauliflowers (some of the other people planted other things). On Thursday it's the year two's go.
Monday, April 19, 2010
Today was the first day back. I was very happy to see some of my friends, but today, Jordan smacked Summer's bum because he fancies her! Today we did the first part of our science topic - it was all about materials and their properties. We also started a new topic in creative curriculum(CC), it was all about script writing. Nothing else happened today that I can recall.
Thursday, April 01, 2010
Today was the last day of term. We did colouring in competitions, but the competitions aren't fair - we did 'who can draw the best Easter egg' competition, and everyone thought that mine was the best, but I didn't win because Miss thinks I'm good at everything, so I always win competitions, so she always given it to someone she thinks never win competitions - the problem is that means that the ones that don't put any effort in at all always win! (I haven't been in the special book for a whole year either).
Wednesday, March 31, 2010
This morning I didn't cry when I went into school and on the computer today I did an acrostic poem (instead of a haiku poem). Today was the Easter egg competition; no-one won in our class, but everyone who did enter got a bag of sweets - but I didn't enter, so I didn't get one. Today was our team meeting but I didn't get to do any of the activities (but I won a prize through mommy - she bought me two Easter eggs!)
Tuesday, March 30, 2010
Yesterday I forgot my blog so here goes: yesterday I can't remember what I did!
Today we did times and divide word problems - they were quite hard. I finished my information booklet today - it's all about Viking Gods like Thor (he was the god of thunder - he was mad and the most popular of the gods), Tyr (he had one eye, one hand and was the god of law), Freyja (she's the goddess of death, war and love) and Odin (the old father - he was the god of war, death and poetry!) Odin had an eight legged horse and two ravens.
Friday, March 26, 2010
Today I went to Little Howard's Big Question, so I'm going to talk about that and not school - I know the blog is called 'Nadia's School Day's' but today it's going to be 'Nadia's Little Howard Big Question Day'.
At the beginning, Big Howard was drawing pictures of people in the audience and he drew a picture of me! The show was really good and at the end I even got Big Howard's autograph!
Thursday, March 25, 2010
Today I got 16 out of 20 in our mental maths test - I got 'super star' rating and two team points. I did some more of my information book too and got another team point - that's the trouble with me; I'm always getting team points!
We did history today - did you know a Viking long ships had as many as 65 pairs of oars - that's 130 oars in total!
Wednesday, March 24, 2010
Today I did angles in maths (some people did angels - they spelt the title wrong!) In angles we did North South East West and worked out whether the angle between two points on the compass was 90 degrees, 180 degrees or 270 degrees. I did some more in my information book today too - I'm writing about King Alfred the Great.
Tuesday, March 23, 2010
Today was my bad luck day, but there was one good thing; I might be able to get a new world record for the most consecutive days of falling over! I fell over yesterday by jumping over a bench - I jumped too early and landed on my face. Today I was skipping along with my friends and landed on my face again (same technique on both days).
I did loads of work on the computer - it took an hour and a half to do, but when it came to save it there wasn't any space, so I lost it all!
I hope tomorrow is better!
Monday, March 22, 2010
Today in maths I did measuring - it was quite hard because we had to measure a zig-zagged line to the nearest centimetre. We also did science, and in science our group did something different from everyone else - we had to measure each other's arms - me and Summer have got the longest arms in our science group.
Friday, March 19, 2010
Today I'm going to carry on with what happened yesterday, so read yesterday's blog before you read this one. After the wood, we went to the water park - that was my favourite activity. There was a big corkscrew thing which you put water in from a bucket that you filled up from a pump. After that you cad to spin it around and it went into another big bucket. It was great fun. There was this table with boats on it and we had to make them float, and the water went through a pipe and onto the table to make the boats float.
There was a toy digger thing which we could have a go on too - it was fun at the start but it soon got a bit boring. The last activity was the scavenger hunt - we had to find loads of things like a leaf skeleton.
Thursday, March 18, 2010
Today we had a school trip with Ebor Gardens school. We did so much that I'll write about some of it today, and the rest tomorrow. We did three activities; in the woods, in the water park and a scavenger hunt. I'll just write about the woods today. We chose a partner from Ebor school - I was in a group with Suzan and the girl we chose was called Cassandra - she was a bit quiet. In the woods activity we walked around a bit - the woods were a bit like nanny and gradad's wood; they were really nice. We had to work as a team to build a tent like thing out of twigs (ours wasn't very good).
I'll tell you about the rest tomorrow.
Wednesday, March 17, 2010
Tuesday, March 16, 2010
In two days I'm going to Nell Bank with the year 2's from Ebor Gardens (that's another school), but tomorrow I'm not doing any handwriting because Miss said my handwriting is good enough!
Today we had to find the total and find the change with money sums - I don't like them much; it's a bit boring and our group always get the hardest work; it's not fair - why do I have to be the smartest in the class!

Monday, March 08, 2010
Today, no one beleived that my blog actually existing and nobody knew the proper colours of the rainbow except for me - it was a rubbish day. Even Miss though the colours were 'red and yellow and pink and green....' I told Miss that I've got my own rhyme - and that mine is correct!
I did pass my seven division facts though - now I'm on my nine times tables; I know them already. When I've finish my nine division facts I've finished my targets until year five.
Thursday, March 04, 2010
Yesterday I did some notes about how Romans and Celts lived and today I wrote my notes up into sentences - we're going to make an information sheet about life in Roman Britain. In maths we did about temperature - I didn't really enjoy it, but I got it done. I passed by seven times table test today, so now I'm on my seven division facts! I've only got my none times tables to go!
Today we walked up the road and saw an arch sign which says 'Lower Wortley' there are two of them.
Wednesday, March 03, 2010
Tuesday, March 02, 2010
Today I did maths. In maths we went on the3 computers - we had to do a bare chart for the people who finished yesterday's work. You would think that drawing a bar chart was easy - but it wasn't because the computer's weren't working. First, we were writing the title, but we chose grey writing but it was too late, but we couldn't delete it, so we took about half an hour on the title! We even had to ask miss. The next problem was that the lines to draw the bar chart were too thick - we never got that working - we had to draw a square and change it's shape.
Monday, March 01, 2010
I got to level 9 in my reading books today! We had an assessment about how well we knew our targets today too - I'm not sure if I passed yet. If I did pass, I might move up a level. There are levels on everything - punctuation, spelling, maths - everything!
Our new theme is moving and growing - the human body; we did our first lesson today - we had to label some parts of the skull.
Thursday, February 25, 2010
Tuesday, February 23, 2010
Today we didn't do much because the other people were on the school trip so they got all the fun (and we didn't). We didn't do any maths, but we did write about yesterday's trip. There was a teacher from another school that came to our class today and he told us about thinking about things, and he asked us what colour is your birthday. I said blue because I was born in the winter and blue is a cold colour.
Monday, February 22, 2010
Today we went on a school trip! Half of Miss Brazell's class and all of my class went; we went to York and the trip was to do with our history theme. We went on the coach - it didn't take long; I just looked out the window. We went into this big hall when we arrived - we had to dress up like Vikings; we wore a tunic, a belt with three knots in and the girls had to ware a scarf on their heads and the boys wore hats. We were grouped into families; I was a little girl and I was trouble!
The lady told us a couple of things and then we went outside; it was like a Viking village. All the houses were made out of mud and were thatched; ours was the biggest house. We had to clean up our house (although I didn't have to do that), and then we had to go into the big chief's house but he wasn't there, but he soon arrived. We ground some corn while we were at the chief's house and made flour. We mixed it with water to make the dough.
There was this big bell in the middle of the village; if you rang it slowly it meant that there was a meeting, but if you rang it fast it meant that there was danger! The bell rang, and we thought it was danger, but it was the big chief and he was angry with the guards!
Then it was our turn to be guards; we did it with the chief - he was a bit scary. Some of had to guard the gates and others had to be at the bell and others half way between. Next we had lunch and it was a three course meal (soup, pasty and apple, cheese and biscuit). Then we went back to the village and we did some weaving (that was the nicest bit - the lady was really nice). We made some pottery too.
At the end we were told a story about the flower that is used to make a blue thread. There was a man and his wife and they wanted a baby but they were quite poor. But one day the man went out and got lost because there was terrible snow. He preyed that he would be safe and get home, and then he saw a massive cave. He went into the cave and saw a massive pile of silver. He collected as much of the silver as he could and then turned around and saw some gold. So he through all the silver away and started collected up the gold. He turned around again and saw some jewels, so he through away the gold and collected up the jewels. Then he saw something shining in the distance - he moved towards it and he saw that it was a golden woman; she wasn't on the ground - she was hovering in the air! The man said 'I'm sorry, I'm really sorry' because he was stealing her things. She said 'it's okay, but you can only take one thing'. He looked at all the silver and the gold and the jewels, and he looked at her and she was carrying some flowers, so he said 'can I have the flowers' and she said yes, so he went home with the flowers.
When he arrived home, his wife was a bit cross because he could have collected the jewels, gold or silver and she threw the flowers out of the window. The next morning, she looked out of the window and there was a whole field of these flowers, so she went outside and picked one and she made it into thread and weaved it and they became wealthy selling the beautiful cloth, and the gods gave them a baby in the end for making the right choice.
Thursday, February 11, 2010
I finished my quest myth book today - it is brilliant; even more brilliant than my big writing one! I did lots of things today because our whole table finished our work so quickly that we had to play a game (guess the shape). After that it still wasn't time to mark the work so we had to play on the computer.
We had history today - we had to write about Anglo Saxons and draw a picture of an Anglo Saxon warrior.
Wednesday, February 10, 2010
Tuesday, February 09, 2010
Today we did something or other! We did our pictures for the front cover of our Quest Myth book that we are putting on the wall. I drew a dragon and a person. We had ICT too; we did lots of things because we had to look on a website and answer some questions about the Anglo-Saxons (because we are learning about how invaders changed Britain). We are doing Romans, Anglo-Saxons and then Vikings.
We had maths today too - our table did something different to the rest of the class - we went on the computers and did fractions; there was a chart and every chart had a line and one of the charts didn't have any lines, the next was split into half, the next into quarters and so an. We had to experiment to see how many sixteenths there are in a half and that sort of thing. Then we had to make a chart of our own.
I got 2 team points today - that's 6 so far this week and it's only Tuesday!
Monday, February 08, 2010
Today I did maths; we had to see which flags were symmetrical - it was a bit hard because some of the flags had writing on them. I finished off my big writing today and it was easy (I got a team point). You have to copy it into my big writing book from my draft book and I had to copy it again because it might go on the wall.
I banged my head with Summer and I had to have ice on my head (which made it hurt even more). I cut my finger in Koosh too.
Thursday, February 04, 2010
Wednesday, February 03, 2010
Today we did PE; we did chest passes and shoulder passes - my favourite are shoulder passes because.... they are just me favourite. We did hand writing because we do it every Wednesday when the year 4's go swimming; we were doing 'h' and 'e' joins. We did maths too - we were doing our 4 and 8 times tables; we were supposed to do 24, but I did every sum in the whole unit - 35 sums altogether; it was too easy.
Tuesday, February 02, 2010
Today I annoyed Molly by saying platypus over and over again! It was because we were doing history and we had to go to this website which had a slide show about the Roman Empire, and one bit was about a king and his name was a bit like platypus, and I couldn't say it so I said platypus instead (in fact his name wasn't like platypus at all, but I felt like saying platypus).
We had PE today; we did tennis to music!
Monday, February 01, 2010
Today, my hair came undone, so I had an afro! And Summer had a crazy hat again - it was fluffy and brown, white and black. We had maths today; in maths we did adding and taking away - I got two team points as usual. We learned some French too - I learned the french for 'what is your name' and the colours orange and blue.
We were talking about making up a myth; Ellie and me did the best in the whole class because none of the others had done a complete story - how the hero was chosen to go on the quest and the quest itself.

Today I had to go to see Mrs Giles! There were ten of us in all and Mrs Giles asked us about the school - how safe we thought it was and stuff like that - it was a relief because I was thought I was in trouble. I missed maths and didn't have to write down my homework which was a bonus too.
Today I was properly playing in the playground - scarecrow tig; it was mad! I was running around all over the play ground trying to dodge a person - it was so much fun.

Two day's blog in one today (I forgot my blog yesterday). Yesterday I got 3 team points - 2 for maths (we had to work out two numbers that when added come to 17 and when multiplied come to 60 - I got the answer first), and 1 team point for literacy because my writing was so good.
Today I got another team point for tidying up. We had a non-uniform day today; I was so stylish! We had to bring a donation for the Haiti earthquake - we raised £34.73 in our class, and £490.80 in the whole school.

Monday, January 25, 2010
Today I did maths and I got all my answers right so I got 2 team points. So I had to put 8 team points on the board today - that must be a record! We had literacy too; we had to write about the settings in myths; I drew a castle and wrote about a dragon that lived in the abandoned castle.
We did ICT today. We had to find out about the Romans. Miss gave out some questions and we had to find the answers on the Internet. This term our theme in ICT is the Internet and Google. Us year 3's have just got our Internet passwords and I've remembered mine already!

Today some road safety people came into school - it was boring; I thought they would at least talk about there not being any seat belts in buses, so I had to mention it for them! I got three team points today; one for maths, one for literacy and one for big writing (that isn't where we write big writing - it's called big writing because it is the most important book of our lives!)
In maths today I did adding and taking away with the usual technique and with number lines - I got up to number 12; we were only supposed to do up to question 8.

Today was our class assembly! I went to school five minutes early so that I could get changed, and I did my dance in front of the whole school.Mrs McDowel told me afterwards that all of the teachers were talking about my dance in the staff room!
Today we did history - we did a time line of history and then had to draw our own timeline since we were born; I put on things like when I started ballet, my first Christmas and things like that. We had a maths test as well today - I was a super star and got 2 team points because I got 16 out of 20; the best in the class by far! (The next best was 12)

Tomorrow is our class assembly in front of the whole school! The assembly is about differences, and I'm doing a ballet dance because I'm the only one in my class that does ballet and that makes me different. I' bringing in my ballet things and mommy is going to do a ballet hair style for me. Today, one of the year 4 boys had a huge ear ring and miss told him to take it off and he asked whether he should take his necklace off too! He brought a necklace into school!
We did maths (subtraction with one number above the other), and we did literacy - we read the second half of Cung-Li and the Dragon and then we had to answer some questions about the story.

Monday, January 18, 2010
Today was a normal day - no missing lessons or anything. Back to normal because all of the snow has gone (well not all of it - there are still tiny bits left). Today we did maths; we had to multiple by 10 and 100. We did another mythical story today, but I can't remember what it was called.
I found out today that in Thursday's class assembly I have to do a ballet dance - I've picked the music (it's Tchaikovsky - track 5 on the album).

Today we did maths. We did some adding and taking away. We also had to get some of the teachers things and guess which teacher it belonged to - we had a purse, some food and a pot and some other things. We only guessed 4 out of the 7. We had one funny one through - there was a tube with 'Scarlet Red' written on it and my table thought it had something to do with scars and we decided that it must belong to Mr Collier because he goes to the gym and he might get a scar if he has an accident - but it turned out to be a tube of paint!
Today we had to go to the hall again - we watched a film - Alvin and the Chipmonks. It was very cold and icy this morning. When I was sitting in the car before going to school I put my window down and the ice stayed there - I had to push it out. Anyway, back to school - all we did was play and the school shut at 12:00 because of the dangourous ice.
Tuesday, January 12, 2010
It is still a bit snowy, so we had to go to the hall again at the start of the day. We watched a film of a Beatrix Potter story. We did some reading (I finished my reading book the third one in three days!) We had numeracy too.
We are going to do a class assembly next Thursday which should be good - it's going to be about celebrating differences.

Today I was back at school after two days off because of the snow! Dad and I walked to school and I arrived a bit late. We had to go to the school hall where they were watching Ice Age 2. My socks and tights got really wet while I was walking to school so I had to change into my PE socks.
We only had two lessons today - the rest of the time we were colouring. We did a wintery picture.

Today was my first day back at school after the holidays. And I moved to a different class in literacy - I'm now on the top table with all the cleverest people in the class; they are all year 4's except for me and Summer. Summer and I are on the same table for all subjects except for numeracy.
Tomorrow we might be getting our computer passwords so that we can use the Internet at school.
